What a Week in Lake Murray, SC Looks Like

‘I need a lake, a little bit of bait’ - *me playing Morgan Wallen’s song on repeat*.

For the last two summers, the Westerlind family has traveled to Lake Murray, South Carolina to spend the forth of July weekend on a little slice of southern paradise & boy oh boy, do we love our time spent at this house! PS here’s a little TikTok recap from this summer.

Lake Murray sits about 30 minutes outside of Columbia, SC and known by the locals as heaven on earth. You might wonder how we ended up in the small town of Chapin (Chea-pen) — ironically, it’s all thanks to Covid! After our first summertime extravaganza in the Finger Lakes summer of 2019, we knew we wanted to make it an annual family get together & that put the wheel in motion! Enter 2020 and our summer plans were nixed. By summer 2021, it seemed like the world was itching to get back to travel & AirBnb rentals started to open back up! By the time we got all of our family on board, the original lake house (along with pretty much all other rentals) in upstate NY was already booked.

Enter a quick google map search for lakes near the East coast and Lake Murray made itself known. A few short months later, we were spending our days roasting marshmallows over the fire and enjoying every minute of lake life @ this beautiful AirBnb. We made quick friends with our host and keep in touch over Instagram till this day!
