The New Mr. & Mrs. are Going to...

AFRICA.

Yup! Richie & I will be traveling across the globe for an adventure of a lifetime to honeymoon in Botswana, Africa!

If someone were to ask me a year ago where we were going for our honeymoon, my answer was undoubtedly Fiji, BoraBora or the Maldives - because honeymoon vibes. But after Richie and I started doing serious homework to narrow down where we wanted to go, we quickly realized that aside from the gorgeous hut over the ocean, there’s almost nothing to do except enjoy the beach. PLUS those locations are hella expensive! So essentially we’d be paying all that money to sit on a beach halfway across the globe when in reality, we could easily fly home to Florida or the Caribbean for the weekend and have a similar experience.

The stunning Four Seasons accommodation in Bora Bora had caught my eye, so I wandered over to their main site, hoping to find an equally gorgeous and exciting location that might peak our interest. I stumbled upon the Seranghetti and knew I had found something magical!

I think a safari vacation is on almost everyone’s bucket list - including Richie’s with his love for wildlife. As soon a I brought it up, our hearts were set on making a safari honeymoon a reality! We’ve spent the last few months researching which countries and camps we want to visit as well as when the best time for safari would be. Sadly, we won’t be leaving on a jet plane right after we say ‘I do’ (turns out February is their rainy season), so we’ve opted on the shoulder season of May which acts as a transition season between the rainy Fall and the dry Winter.

So, where are we going exactly?

Botswana: Chobe National Park + Okavango Delta.

Botswana’s unique landscape is one of pure beauty & both safari locations are gorgeous and ideal for different reasons. Chobe National Park will be our first stop for the high population of animals, specifically: elephants, lions, hippos, and cape buffalo. Thanks to our late May travel, we’ll also be able to witness the zebra migration which brings hundreds of zebra across Botswana. We’ll be staying at luxury tented camps and lodges that offer game drives, walking safaris and even helicopter safaris!

Known for being a flooded dessert, our stay in the Okavango Delta will allow us to explore mokoro trails and experience Africa like I never thought possible! Often referred to as the elephant capitol of the world, we will have an experience of a lifetime thanks to the Living With Elephants Foundation, as we brunch with & walk beside their two orphaned elephants Jabu and Morula.

Richie & I are counting the days until we take off for our first adventure as Mr. & Mrs. and cannot wait to share our experience with you!

PS have YOU been to Africa?? We’re all ears for recommendations or any advice you may have for us :) DM, email, text or call me - many thanks!!

XO, the new Mrs.
