Rise & Shine! Four Habits to a Healthy Skin Routine

As my Dad would say - ‘Good morning in the morning!’

What's better than waking up to silky, smooth skin?! I won’t shy away from the fact I’ve been absolutely #blessed with near flawless skin. I’m beyond grateful that my genetics dealt me the hand of no embarrassing acne during my teenage years. Even so, this doesn’t mean I don’t breakout during that time of the month or get the occasional, awful stress pimple perfectly centered on my forehead, because I SO do!

What I’ve come to realize is that our skin is only as beautiful as we allow it to be through our daily choices! What do I mean by that? Our skin’s health relies directly on what we put in our bodies, what we put out, and what we put on it. Sharing my daily routine, tips & tricks to get you on the fast track to B-E-A-U-TIFUL skin!

HABIT ONE: Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! If I could preach one thing to you, it would be to moisturize your skin as often as you can. I use the No.7 skincare line sold at Target or Dwane Reade & it works wonders on my face! For younger aged skin, I recommend starting with the ‘early defense’ line which includes a day cream with SPF 30 and night cream to use while you get your beauty sleep.

HABIT TWO: Hydration is key! I do my absolute best to refill my S’Well bottle as much as possible throughout the day. A great goal to set would be to drink your weight in ounces every day- so if you weigh 130 pounds, that would equal 130 ounces!

HABIT THREE: Sweat it out! As much water that I put into my body, I try to sweat out at least 30 minutes worth in exercise a day. Endorphins are a skin’s best friend! Indoor cycling, hot yoga or a barre class are a few of my favorite ways to break a sweat.

HABIT FOUR: Get your sleep, sleeping beauty! It’s crazy how vital a healthy sleeping schedule is to our skin and overall wellbeing. I aim to get a minimum of 7-8 hours of GOOD sleep every night! GOOD sleep = no TV left on, no bright screen phone in my face and no contacts left in my eyes. Some nights this is a struggle, but it’s a great goal to have a specific number of hours in mind to strive for!
